The Mexican forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez almost scored once and then tied the game, but Leverkusen lost 2-1 against Colonia.

The hot streak continues. Mexican striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez scored his eighth goal in six straight games in the Bayer Leverkusen game against Colonia. However, hs Bundesliga team went away with a 2-1 defeat.

Chicharito scored the equalizing goal in the 32nd minute of play. He now has four goals in Bundesliga play, four more in Champions League with Leverkusen and two more in the German Cup known as DFB Pokal for a total of 10 goals, of which eight have been scored in his last six straight games.

Herandez's goal caused the BayArena to explode in euphoria, which was later drowned by Dominik Maroh's second goal at minute 72.

The Mexican forward – who was signed on by Leverkusen this season for a US$10-million three-year contract – almost scored the first goal of the game as he rifled a shot off to the enemies goal, but young keeper Timo Horn managed an spectacular save.

It was later, when Bayer was already behind by 1-0, that Swiss player Admir Mehmedi centered the ball and Chicharito appeared without anybody on him to connect a powerful header that Horn was unable to block.

Colonia now has 18 points and Leverkusen 17 after 12 games. Colonia is in seventh place and Leverkusen is in eighth.
