Ecuador Supports Peaceful Dialogue in Venezuela

Ecuador’s Foreign Minister Maria Fernanda Espinosa has rejected intervention in Venezuela in an interview on teleSUR’s program “Enclave Política.”

She declared, “Ecuador rejects all actions that interfere or intervene in the internal affairs of a sovereign nation.”

As a victim of U.S. interventionist strategies, Espinosa emphasized Ecuador will never support intervention in a third-party state.

Instead of sanctions and threats, the minister said Ecuador believed peaceful dialogue was needed to resolve the crisis in Venezuela — a position shared by the United Nations.

“We are completely willing to facilitate dialogue between the government and the opposition,” she added.

The minister went on to reaffirm Ecuador’s commitment to protecting Australian whistleblower Julian Assange and also made mention of the current dispute between President Lenin Moreno and former President Rafael Correa.
