Ecuadorean international soccer star Enner Valencia dressed up as Superman and visited children suffering from cancer in the city of Guayaquil on Thursday.

The star, who plies his trade with English Premiership outfit Everton, spoke to children, parents and staff at SOLCA hospital, giving them signed t-shirts and other gifts. Ecuador's most famous commentator, Andres Guschmer, also visited the hospital.
Often referred to as "Superman" for his pace, Valencia was born in the northern province of Esmeraldas, where the majority of the population is of Afro-Ecuadorian descent.
On Tuesday, Valencia helped Ecuador beat Venezuela in a qualifier for the 2018 Russia World Cup, scoring the final goal in a thumping 3-0 victory. Ecuador now sit in third place behind first place Brazil and second place Uruguay.
Gonzalo Vargas, a close friend of Valencia, posted photos on Twitter of the star visiting the hospital and talking to its children.
