The meeting held in Washington over the weekend brought together Cuban residents in the U.S. and diplomats from the Cuban Embassy.

The final declaration of the third Meeting of Cuban Residents in the United States severely condemned the illegal and inhumane economic blockade imposed by the U.S. on Cuba for over half of a century.

Among the main resolutions adopted Saturday at Howard University Hospital, the venue of the meeting, was one demanding the end of the blockade.

The participants also condemned the media campaign carried out against Cuba's quality of life, as well as the interference in the internal affairs of Cuba which has always aimed at overthrowing the Cuban Revolution.

The participants demanded the return of Guantanamo Bay to Cuba and denounced the use of subversive programs against the socialist island, which have recently targeted Cuban youth and seeks to destabilize the country.

The participants also demanded justice from the U.S. government in the case of Carlos Muniz Varela, a member of the Antonio Maceo Brigade who was killed in April, 1979, by a terrorist organization in Puerto Rico.

"The Cuban Revolution cannot be defeated, because it has remained true to its historical commitment to the poor people of the world and has been and always will be a Revolution of the humble, with the humble and for the humble," the declaration said.
