Members of parties and political movements of the left and progressives of Latin America and the Caribbean begin Sunday Havana the Annual Meeting of the Forum of Sao Paulo, which will last through Tuesday.
According to the organizing committee of the meeting, the debates will be aimed at highlighting the role of the left in the unity of the Latin American revolutionary movement.
Currently, progressive leftist movements are going through complicated situations throughout the subcontinent, hence the importance given by the Sao Paulo Forum to the strengthening of the union, according to the summit’s organizers.
The event will include specific events for the participation of parliamentarians, women and youth, and, as expected, attendees will denounce the offensive of the right against Latin American progressive governments, including those of Venezuela and Nicaragua.
The Forum of Sao Paulo is a space of convergence, debate and joint action born of the Meeting of Political Parties and Organizations of the Left of Latin America and the Caribbean held in 1990 with the sponsorship of the Workers Party of Brazil.
To date Cuba has hosted two editions of the meeting, the 1993 and the 2001.
