Two shootings on Friday followed the killing of five police officers in Dallas, both injuring a cop but with no confirmation of a connection to the events on Thursday.

A man opened fire at a Days Inn hotel in Bristol, Tennessee early Friday morning, killing at least one person and injuring three others, including an officer.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation identified the man as Lakeem Keon Scott and said in a statement that he may have been “troubled by recent incidents involving African Americans and law enforcement officers in other parts of the country.”
The FBI is assisting with the investigation to "develop a thorough understanding of his motivation for this incident."

The shooter also fired at the Volunteer Parkway and at responding officers, who shot back and gravely injured Scott. The woman who died was driving on the highway and another worked at the hotel, reported AP.

Later on Friday, a man called 911 in Valdosta, Florida, saying someone broke into his car and fired at the officer who arrived. Both the suspected gunman—identified by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations as Stephen Paul Beck, an Asian American—and one of the officers are injured.
The GBI said there was no evidence so far that connected the shooting to the Dallas event, in which five police officers were shot and killed during an anti-police brutality rally to protest this week's fatal shootings of two Black men by police in Louisiana and Minnesota. The suspect was later found to have served for the U.S. army in Afghanistan.
