The Chinese diplomat explained there is a need to eliminate the threat of terrorism there, otherwise it could spread.
China announced Tuesday it was ready to help reconstruction efforts in Syria, Chinese Special Envoy for Syria Xie Xiaoyan told reporters, now that Syria has been victorious over the Islamic State group.

“China is ready to take part in the post-war reconstruction of Syria. We will continue our assistance in keeping with our potential,” he said.
The diplomat explained there is a need to eliminate the threat of terrorism there, otherwise, it could spread.
“Although the Islamic State terror group has been defeated is Syria, its remaining members, as well as other terrorist groups, such as Jabhat al-Nusra and the East Turkestan independence movement, still exist, so the war on terror is far from being over,” the Chinese envoy said.
Xiaoyan called on other countries to cooperate in combating terrorism there.
Syrian government and opposition peace negotiations entered their second and final day in the Russian resort city of Sochi on Tuesday. Participants in the talks have aimed to reach a peaceful settlement to the deadly conflict which has gripped the Arab state for almost seven years.
