In a tight win against Peru, the hosts of the tournament will play the final.

Chile will play in the final of Copa America on Monday, after a heated and tight match, beating Peru 2-1.

With two goals by striker Eduardo Vargas, the hosts of Copa America advanced in the tournament and will now face either Paraguay or Argentina, which will play Tuesday for the finals.

The first goal came almost at the end of the first half (42nd minute), after Arsenal (England) striker Alexis Sanchez tried to pass the ball but failed. The ball bounced off the post and Vargas scored the first goal.

Peru had been close to scoring, with a header by Schalke 4 (Germany) star Jefferson Farfan, followed by a powerful shot by Carlos Lobaton at the 19th minute.

At the 20th minute, Peruvian defender Carlos Zambrano was sent off with a red card after tackling Chilean Charles Aranguiz.

With 10 players, Peru continued pushing forward during the second half. By the 60th, a counter-attack led to a free kick for the Peruvians. Farfan once again in the area passed the ball to Bravo, who was blocked by Chilean Gary Mendel. But as Mendel blocked the ball, he scored against his own team.

But the tie would only last 4 minutes, as Vargas scored again in the 64th minute with a powerful shot from outside the box.

After the game, Peruvian star Paolo Guerrero complained about the referee and many in social media questioned Chile's first goal, where Vargas would have been offside.

“They did not call a clear penalty, but I do not want to talk more about the referee. The goal was an offside if I'm not mistaken. The referee was chosen shortly before the match began,” said the Flamengo (Brazil) forward, saying that it was unexpected.

Chile will now reach the Copa America final for the first time in 28 years.
