Canadian National Rail also shuts down its Eastern Canadian network as Indigenous protests continue.
Canada's Via Rail has temporarily ended all passenger services nationwide.
"Via Rail has no other option but to cancel its services, effective immediately and until further notice," Via Rails said via a statement on its website.
Canadian National Railway Co also stated that it has been forced to shut down its operations in Eastern Canada due to the blocking of rail lines by those protesting against a natural gas pipeline in British Columbia.
Canada’s biggest railway said the shutdown, which would continue until the end of the blockade, may lead to temporary layoffs within its Eastern Canadian operational staff.
Anti-pipeline protesters near tracks in Ontario, Canada’s most populated province, have disrupted passenger trains and goods transportation for the seventh straight day.
