The Bolivian government has delivered 11 tons of humanitarian aid to Cuba after the nation was hit by Category 5 Hurricane Irma earlier this month.

The Bolivian Defense Minister Reymi Ferreira said, “We have sent a first shipment of 11 tons of humanitarian aid consisting of construction materials like windows, nails, machines, electrical equipment and other tools.”
Irma’s 290 kilometer per hour winds caused severe damage to Cuba’s housing, agriculture, and electro-energetic systems.
Cuba has also received supplies and monetary support from Venezuela, Vietnam, Suriname, Panama and Russia, the country’s secretary of communication reported.
Despite the internal devastation, Cuba has dispatched 771 physicians to several Caribbean islands in the wake of Irma's destruction.
Bolivia is also waiting for communications with Mexico in order to assist them as well. The country was hit by a massive 7.1-magnitude earthquake on Tuesday.
Ferreira stated that he has been in touch with the Ambassador of Bolivia in Mexico, Jose Crespo, who will relay what kind of assistance Mexico needs.
“More than 200 people will receive the support of the international community and Bolivia will be no exception,” he added.
