The fair will be open to the public from October 24 - 27

The 10th Bogota International Art Fair (ARTBO) will be inaugurated Thursday at the Corferias convention center, announced Maria Paz Gaviria, director of the fair.

The fair will exhibit art from 66 galleries from Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Cuba, Switzerland, Holland and the United States among others.

Thirty-three thousand works by more than 300 artists will be exhibited at the fair. The attendees will be able to contemplate and buy art from artists such as Andy Warhol, Julio le Parc and Marco Maggi.

Gaviria highlighted the influence of the fair in Bogota’s culture, stating that after 10 years of the fair, Bogota has become a cultural city.

She said, “It has been very significant to see how the interest in the fair has increased. In 2012 we had 20,000 attendees, and by 2013 we has 25,000.”

“The fair has a reputation in Latin America for its ‘boutique’ feel,” said Gaviria. “We will have art books, and a special section, designed by artists, to bring the public in general and especially the children closer to art."
