A Rosario city official left a reporter speechless after being constantly asked about the importance of soccer star Lionel Messi's wedding.

Last week the wedding of soccer star Lionel Messi in Argentina made the headlines of the major news outlets in the world, but the head of the Registry office in the city of Rosario has stolen the spotlight since, after giving an epic radio interview.

After Messi's wedding to longtime girlfriend Antonela Roccuzzo in their hometown city of Rosario, the city's clerk Gonzalo Carrillo Herrera - who married the couple - was interviewed for a show on a local radio station in Buenos Aires.

The reporter told the director that he was sure this wedding was the most important that the official had ever presided. The event drew attention from international media, and among the guests were Colombian singer Shakira, and soccer players Gerard Pique, Neymar Jr., Luis Suarez, Xavi Hernandez, Samuel Eto'o, among others.

The director responded calmly to the reporter saying: “No, not all. The most important wedding that I've presided was the one between my two best friends. We've known each other since we were 9 years old."

But it didn't end there.

Even after his blunt response, the reporter took another try at playing up the importance of the event, saying that surely the record of Messi's wedding must have been the most important official act at the Civil Registry of the city of Rosario.

“No, not at all. The most important record at the Civil Registry of Rosario is the birth certificate of Che Guevara,” the municipal official responded.
