The UN chief remarked that strengthening ties between China and the African continent will improve global development patterns, global governance and effectively develop economic globalization.

China is expected to announce a new allocation of billions of dollars for financing infrastructural development across the African continent at next week’s Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) which will be held in Beijing.

The United Nation Secretary General Antonio Guterres remarked that a China-Africa relationship is pertinent to the success of the African continent.

"I am a true believer that the success of the world in development and peace depends on Africa's success, and China's cooperation with Africa is fundamental for Africa's success," the envoy said at a joint interview with Chinese correspondents before heading to the FOCAC summit.

One Chinese cellphone maker, Transsion Holdings, has been operating in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia some eight years now. At the facility, workers handle microphones and vibrators parts, run wear resistance and power consumption checks as well as headsets durability tests.

The UN chief remarked that strengthening ties between China and the African continent will improve global development patterns, global governance and effectively develop economic globalization.

"The world is one, the planet is one, we are living in an integrated time, everything is interlocked," Guterres explained.

Transsion Holdings, after a decade on the continent, became Africa’s top smartphone maker last year. The telephone company, which has managed to outperform major companies - Samsung, ZTE and Huawei - with competitive prices and strategic local coverage, is now producing the leading brands: Tecno, Itel and Infinix. The cost of the handsets range from US$10 to US$400.

The FOCAC Beijing summit is scheduled to run from Sept. 3 to 4 with the theme: "China and Africa: toward an even stronger community with a shared future through win-win cooperation."

The previous summit was held in December 2015 in Johannesburg, South Africa, where Chinese President Xi Jinping had announced a US$60-billion support for infrastructural development in Africa.
