Earthquake hits Southern Ecuador
A 6.5 earthquake shook Ecuador on Thursday night, felt throughout the whole country and beyond its borders.

According to the Geological Institute of Ecuador, the earthquake had its epicenter in the Chimborazo province with a depth of 75 km.
The people of Cuenca, a southern city near the epicenter, left their homes fearing the strong movements of the Earth.
Some housing units have been damaged in the central provinces of Ecuador near the epicenter.
Further seismic events have been felt in Chile where an earthquake registering 5.8 on the Richter scale was felt within minutes of the one in Ecuador and Panama, which itself registered at 5.6. All three earthquakes occurred within less than an hour.
