5.7-Magnitude Earthquake Shook Parts of Taiwan

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake shook parts of Taiwan Wednesday afternoon, Taiwan News reported.

The quake struck the capital at 1:59 p.m. local time, the Central Weather Bureau said. There have been no reports of injuries, but according to witnesses accounts, building in downtown Taipei swayed slightly.

The Central Meteorological Bureau said the epicenter of the termor was nearly 12 kilometers north of Taipei City Hall. The quake had a depth of 140 kilometers.

The tremor was felt across multiple cities and counties, including Taoyuan, Hualien, Taichung, Central Hsinchu, and Keelung, as well as Nantou, Hsinchu, Miaoli, Changhua, Yunlin and Taitung counties.
