It is estimated that those involved in the former government stole over $6 billion from public funds.

The Peruvian Anti-Corruption Prosecuting Agency announced on Monday that three siblings, a niece, and one brother-in-law of former President Alberto Fujimori are among the 100 people Peru has placed on the list for international arrest warrants.

The government agency put the relatives of Fujimori, along with several officers of his former government, under its “international red alert” ranking, which prioritizes locating and capturing those on the list.

Over 20 people linked to the former head of state are still being sought internationally for crimes such as embezzlement. It is estimated that those involved in the Fujimori government stole over $6 billion from public funds.

Siblings of Fujimori are on the list including, Rosa, Juana, and Pedro Fujimori. Authorities are prosecuting them for the “aggravated illegal use of public funds, simple illegal use of public funds, and embezzlement,” as well as other crimes.

Fujimori’s niece Miriam Aritomi Fujimori is being prosecuted for her alleged embezzlement to the detriment of the state and against the public. Meanwhile, her father, Victor Aritomi Shinto is accused of “aggravated illegal use of public funds, simple illegal use of public funds, concealment of crimes to the detriment of the public, and illicit association to commit crime.”

In the red alert list there are also the names of several former officers and personalities linked to the government of Fujimori including Ernesto Schutz Landázuri, Edgar Añamuro Rodrigo, Arturo Arévalo Michi, Enrique Benavides Morales, Oscar Barco Lecussan, Sergiy Bilibukha, Daniel Borobio Guede, Giancarlo Bresani, Dmitro Tchorniy, Víctor Custodio Poemape, Eduardo Guevara Guerra, Marco Antonio Ibarcena, Gerald Krueger Dizillo, Manuel Revilla Palomino, Sonia Rodríguez Asmat, Moshe Rothchild Chassin and Flor Maita Luna

Former Head of State Alberto Fujimori Fujimori is currently serving a prison sentence for corruption and crimes against humanity. Since Peruvian law stipulates that prison sentences are not cumulative and can be served at the same time, Fujimori will serve for only 25 years in prison for the several crimes committed while he was in power between 1990 and 2000.

After a massive network of corruption was revealed through videos where millions of dollars were seen exchanged to maintain the government in power, Fujimori escaped to Japan only to be captured in Chile years later.
