A total of 4,200 kilograms of narcotics, seized in several state-led operations, will be destroyed, according to the joint command of the armed forces.

A formal release stated that, the air force has already transported the drugs from the Simon Bolivar Base, in Guayaquil, to the site where it will be destroyed. The drugs were confiscated in several government operations carried out nationwide, as part of the state's fight against drug-trafficking.

The security forces are generally charged with the difficult task of patrolling the borders as well as searching urban and rural areas to stem narco-trafficking throughout the country. Since the start of the year, police has seized more than 23,000 tons of narcotics and made numerous arrests.
