The 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Begin

IN PICTURES: Seventy-one nations are competing in the Commonwealth Games in Australia, with over 200 athletes arriving from across the Caribbean.

The international event began on Australia's Gold Coast on Thursday, with thousands of athletes arriving from 71 countries.

Among the games in this year's competition are aquatic sports, cycling, racquet-sports, volleyball, boxing, weightlifting, gymnastics, and shooting.
