The United Nations confirmed that the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia delivered 7,132 weapons, as part of the peace process to end decades of armed conflict and to start its transition into political life.
To mark the historic occasion, leaders from both the FARC and the Colombian government took part in a disarmament ceremony in the town of Mesetas, about 155 miles south of the capital of Bogota.
FARC leader, Timoleon Jimenez, or Timochenko, told the rebels that they were "militants of the people's army yesterday, and now militants of the hope of the people."
