Bolivia's Flag Day Celebrations

IN PICTURES: Every year, Bolivia celebrates its national flag.

On Aug. 17, 1825, 11 days after Bolivia declared its independence from Spain, the first Bolivian flag and crest were created. Celebrated every year in the land-locked South American country, the day is one of festivities as parades hit the streets and school children recite poems in honor of the nation's tri-colored flag.
