International experts analyse the situation in Palestine in the light of international law and as a cause of resistance

On Friday was held the second day of activities of the International Seminar “A new holocaust in the 21st century: Zionism threatens the world”, which takes place during 13 and 14 June at the Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos y del Caribe Rómulo Gallegos (Celarg)where international experts analyzed international law on what happened in Gaza and as a cause of resistance, considering the number of fatalities that multiplies every hour.

In Panel 3 of the Seminar, entitled “The aggression in Gaza violates international law”, Ermelinde Malcotte, militant of the Belgian Association of Solidarity of Refugees of Latin America and Africa (ARLAC) of Belgium and researcher of the United States foreign policy towards Africa and the Middle East, referred to several aspects that contextualize the current situation in Palestine, Among them the failure of the European project and the inability of the United States to confront Russia, China and Iran, which reshapes the possibilities of the Palestinian people and their image as fighters and liberators, but not as victims.

Olga Álvarez, constitutionalist and analyst on politics and international law, referred to the concepts and institutions that must be known by the media and social movements in solidarity with Palestine, especially about what the illegal occupation of Israel for more than 75 years in Palestinian territory means and which is currently manifested in a genocide that moves the world. “As peoples also in resistance, in solidarity with the Palestinian cause we cannot copy or repeat the narrative of the Zionist entity,” said the Venezuelan.

Also from Venezuela, the writer and lawyer Ana Cristina Bracho, specialist in Public Law and Fundamental Rights at the University of Caen-Lower Normandy, said that currently there is a social force denouncing, which is faced with an institutional duality generated by the actions of the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, which, far from providing a satisfactory response to the conflict, complicates the situation of the resisting people.

The international seminar “A new Holocaust in the 21st century: Zionism threatens the world” began in Caracas, Venezuela .

This block had the participation of deputy to the AN, Roy Daza, as moderator, and Vladimir Adrianza, internationalist and researcher of the National Center of Historical Studies, as rapporteur.

In Panel 4, entitled “The Palestinian Cause, Cause of Resistance,” Venezuelan international researcher and analyst Angel Tortolero introduced the energy issue, a key to decision-making in Western Asia, which is the region that possesses the largest energy reserve on the planet, as well as being one of the world’s largest arms buyers.

Yanelexy Soto, militant and political leader of the University of Havana, Cuba, said that the Palestinian resistance has become the axis of the struggle against imperialism and explained how differences do not represent an obstacle to building resistance, which he clarified not only manifests itself in the armed plane, but also in the political one.

During his speech, the Brazilian Carlos Alberto (Beto) Almeida, journalist and international policy analyst, proposed creating an international conference in support of Palestine to convene the Non-Aligned Movement, The Group of 77, BRICS and members of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), among others, whose governments turn to trade unions, student movements and political parties. He also proposed the formation of a conference of Heads of States for a communication in favor of humanity.

Sergio Rodríguez Gelfenstein, moderator and rapporteur of this last group of specialists who finished the cycle of presentations of the Seminar, informed that both proposals will be incorporated in the final declaration of the Seminar.
