“Humanitarian workers are not a target. Those responsible must be held accountable”, said the UNRWA commissioner, who has reported the deaths of more than a hundred of its workers in attacks carried out by Israel against Gaza.
“Heavy fire from the Israeli forces on a UN convoy,” said the representative, while “No casualties, our teams had to duck and take cover”.
Noting that this happened on Sunday, Philippe Lazzarini said the teams were travelling in clearly identified UN armored cars and wearing UN vests.
“A vehicle received at least five bullets while waiting just outside the Israeli forces checkpoint south of Wadi Gaza. The car was badly damaged and abandoned the convoy. The teams reassembled and finally reached Gaza City”, he said.
He also stressed that like all other similar UN movements, this movement was coordinated and approved by the Israeli authorities.
Israeli forces have killed more than 39,000 Palestinians, following a permanent genocide against the Palestinian people.
