The contract covers the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil, and the 2030 Men’s World Cup in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, as well as other FIFA tournaments.

Matches and content will be distributed across Z’s linear channels (UNITE8 Sports) and the Zee 5 digital platform, with multilingual coverage to broaden accessibility and engagement among Indian fans.

The agreement includes 39 FIFA events, among them the Men’s and Women’s U-20 and U-17 World Cups, the Futsal World Cup, the Intercontinental Cup, and documentary material related to these competitions.

Punit Goenka, CEO of the Zee Entertainment Group, stated that the investment in broadcasting rights reflects confidence in the potential of football in India and its future growth as a sports market.

The agreement with India was announced days after the confirmation of World Cup broadcasts in China, through state broadcaster CCTV and China Media Group (CMG), the network’s parent company.

In China, the social network Xiaohongshu (RedNote), often compared to Instagram, will broadcast all 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup for free, having been added as a strategic partner of CMG for sporting events.

With these agreements, FIFA secures coverage in the world’s two most populous countries, India and China, consolidating its global expansion strategy and connecting with new football audiences.
