Former Bolivian president Evo Morales started on Firday a hunger strike to demand a national dialogue as the only way to resolve the political differences between the current government of President Luis Arce and the social organizations that are being mobilized.

“We started the hunger strike from the Territorio de Lucha, convinced of the need to find solutions to the problems that today face the Bolivian people,” said Evo Morales throw a poste in his X official account accompanied with a video of Morales stating that he is not “afraid” and that he “will not leave Bolivia.”

In the face of the hunger strike and the rising tensions with Arce’s government the former president said he and his political fellows “will stand firm in defense of better days for our country and demand the immediate release of our comrades unjustly arrested during the day of protest.”

Morales previously insisted that the government must withdraw all military and police personnel. ” We also call for the establishment of two dialogue tables to discuss economic and political issues. Persecution and repression must stop”.

Ponciano Santos, leader of the Confederation of Peasants and member of the People’s General Staff affiliated with former president Evo Morales, said that there will be no suspension of blockades and will increase pressure against the current government.

On the other hand, the Bolivian Foreign Minister He denounced this Saturday before the international community a “destabilizing escalation” against the democratic system due to road blocks that continue in the center of the country.

The Bolivian government also denounced that on Friday three military units were taken by followers of the former president in the tropics of Cochabamba, which “constitutes a threat and a risk for the entire Bolivian population with unforeseeable consequences”.
