Cuba Reafirms Compromise of the Health Cooperation with Angola

The Cuban Minister of Health, José Angel Portal, today reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continue health cooperation with Angola and thus contribute to the well-being of the population.

Portal, who visited two reference hospitals in Luanda on Friday, was pleasantly impressed by the conditions of these institutions, with first-world technology put free to the service of the Angolans, as well as good organization, Development of working teams and high scientific level.

Another area of exchange can go in the direction of the Cuban biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry and take advantage of the agreement signed a year ago by the regulatory agencies of both countries, he noted.
Portal, who visited the Hospital of Cardiopulmonary Diseases Cardinal Dom Alexandre do Nascimento and the Pediatric Hematological Institute Dr. Victoria Do Espirito Santo, expressed satisfaction at visiting Angola for the second time.
He added that it was particularly important to have been able to know first-hand the assistance centres where there is a significant participation of Cuban workers alongside the Angolans, giving their contribution for the health and life of the people.
In the company of the director of Sub-Saharan Africa of the Cuban Chancellery, Luis Alberto Amoros Núñez; the daughter of Commander Raúl Díaz Argüelles, Natasha Díaz Argüelles, and the Cuban ambassador, Oscar León, among other members of his delegation, the holder knew various areas of the institutions and exchanged on the attention there.
Minister Lutucuta, who joined the visit to the hematological hospital, and the general directors of that centre, Francisco António José Domingos, and of the Cardiopulmonary Diseases complex, Carlos Alberto Masseca, received invitations to travel to Cuba in April 2025 to participate in the island’s largest health congress.
In both institutions, the minister spoke with members of the Cuban medical brigade, 38 in cardiopulmonary and 17 in hematological, to whom he conveyed the thanks on behalf of the leadership of the Caribbean nation and its portfolio.
