Gaza authorities estimate that a new wave of Israeli attacks on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza has caused some 150 deaths, although rescue services have been unable to access the area due to the siege by Israeli troops.

“A horrible massacre is currently taking place in the area of Al-Hawaja Street, in Jabalia, with reports of more than 150 martyrs, wounded and no one intervening to save them,” said Gaza Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal.

Israeli forces blew up 11 houses in the residential area of al Hawaja, within the Yabalia refugee camp, causing a “great massacre,” said the Civil Defence, which received numerous distress calls.

“Citizens are facing great difficulties in transporting the dead and wounded due to the interruption by the Israeli occupation of emergency medical services and civil defense in the northern Gaza Strip,” said Basal.

If these figures are confirmed, this would be one of the biggest massacres of the war in the Gaza Strip, after some 270 Palestinians were killed last June in Nuseirat during a hostage rescue operation, The army took four Israeli prisoners alive in heavy armed clashes with Hamas, killing a large number of civilians.

Civil Defense of the Gaza Strip warned early on Thursday that emergency medical services have been suspended throughout the northern governorate in the face of the Israeli offensive, which “has been laying siege to the main hospitals and directly attacking ambulances and rescue teams” for the past 20 days.
