The administration of President Enrique Peña Nieto said that Mexico is not going to pay for a wall along the border with the U.S., as controversial tycoon Donald Trump advocated on Tuesday.
“They have really taken advantage of us both economically and at the border. They will pay for that fence.” Trump said.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Peña's spokesperson Eduardo Sanchez, said the Mexican government does not view Trump's statements as a serious proposal.
"Of course it's false... It reflects an enormous ignorance of what Mexico represents, and also the irresponsibility of the candidate who's saying it." Sanchez said.
The Mexican official added that Mexicans in the U.S. work with passion and that they do their jobs well, he also said that the billionaire's comments reflect an enormous lack of knowledge of the reality in the U.S.
