Ecuadorean former Vice-President Jorge Glas was under medical care from Oct. 21 to Nov. 6 at the Carlos Andrade Marín Hospital inside the Rehabilitation Center Social of Cotopaxi due to his hunger strike.

On Nov. 6, Ecuador's ministry of justice confirmed that his last medical checkup showed him to be stable. Nonetheless, the former vice president will be transferred to a home for medical assistance "for an intravenous fluid and electrolyte feeding process."
Eduardo Franco Loor, Glas’ lawyer wrote on Twitter that his client’s health “has deteriorated health and is being transferred to Quito.” He also mentioned that his life is at risk while blaming the authorities for the current health of Glas.
The lawyer wrote on Twitter, “I tell the country that the health of former Vice President Glas has deteriorated a lot. His life is in danger. HE IS BEING TRANSFERRED URGENTLY TO QUITO! We have already blamed the Govt authorities. for his current state and life. All his rights have been violated!”
Glas began his hunger strike after being transferred to the Latacunga maximum security prison on Oct. 22, according to his lawyer.
We inform "the country and the international community that the former vice-president @jorgeglas is in deplorable, subhuman conditions, which is why he had declared himself on hunger strike. We hold the authorities responsible for his physical security and for his life," Franco Loor said on his Twitter account.
He also said Wednesday that Glas had been finally transferred to Quito but after hours of waiting which could prove detrimental to his health.
Glas was in Prison 4 in Quito before being transferred to the maximum security prison in Latacunga. On Sunday, Bolivian President Evo Morales tweeted expressing concern over Glas’ health and urging the international community to “defend” his life.
Glas has been serving his six-year prison sentence for being found guilty of illicit association to collect bribes from a Brazilian company Odebrecht.
A press conference was scheduled to take place later Wednesday by supporters of Glas, his lawyer, possibly his wife as well as former President Rafael Correa.
