Women’s March Returns to Washington and Across the U.S.
IN PICTURES: Thousands of women and allies protested yesterday across the U.S. against the Donald Trump presidency. This was the anniversary follow up to the 2017 Women's March on Washington protesting the president’s swearing in ceremony.
Rallies took place in 250 major cities and small towns in the U.S., as well as in London and Paris.
The largest turnout took place in Los Angeles, CA at over 600,000 marchers.
The theme of this year’s march was March On The Polls to encourage voter registration and women’s participation in electoral politics.
Organizers say 2017 showed a historic number of females running for office at all levels of government.
“It is women who are holding our democracy together in these dangerous times,” said potential presidential candidate and current N.Y. Democratic Senator, Kirsten Gillibrand, to crowds in D.C.
Demonstrators were protesting the administration’s migration and health care policies, among other and Trump’s year of xenophobic and misogynistic rhetoric.
