The total figure includes US$28.2 billion in estimated accrued interest and US$6.6 billion of leaked Palestinian fiscal revenues to Israel, and the amount continues to rise. 

The date was chosen for its importance to the Palestinian people since in 1947 when the General Assembly of the United Nations passed resolution 181, later known as the "Resolution of the Partition."

"The expansion of the settlement is a symbol of Israel’s choice to prevent the possibility of an agreement in Jerusalem," researcher with NGO Ir Amim said.
